My husband and I have been married for 27 years. He is truly my best friend. We have a son, 26 and a daughter, 23. We've been blessed to live in some beautiful parts of our country and to raise our kids in a college town...small town with a lot of charm and culture. We have 2 dogs, Riley and Trixie who are our precious companions and 3 that will greet us at the Pearly Gates one day.
I am a College graduate - Valparaiso University with a BA, Harvard Humanities/Disaster Response Certification, and I am NIMS trained.
Besides currently serving as the Executive Director, The Provisions Project, Inc., I am also the Chair, South Central Louisiana Recovery, and a trained VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) Supervisor.
In many respects, working in the realm of disaster response fell into my lap. It was never anything I thought I would do with my life. However, I am very grateful that it did. It is something that I immediately became very passionate about. Disaster response is rewarding and yet, heart-wrenching all at the same time. There is so much suffering and loss and yet, I have witnessed the Holy Spirit more in this line of work than in any other industry I have been in. God is truly present! I believe that is what keeps me doing what I do today. I am very grateful for the people who encompass our Board and the team that I work with daily. I am looking forward to the path ahead and the good works we have planned working with our faith-based community to enhance the efforts and response they are already doing.
