The Provisions Project needs support of partners and donors as it launches a disaster response training program for communities of faith, called EMPOWER.EQUIP.ENACT.. This training program and the technology associated with participation will be offered at NO COST to congregations.
The goal of this training is to empower communities of faith and build upon the good work they already do to play a larger role in the disaster response efforts. By equipping them with the necessary tools to prepare their congregation for this type of response and providing them access to the proper communication channels, this will allow them to enact their response plans in an efficient, effective and confident way to better serve those in need during times of disaster.
At its core, we believe faith-based groups are a natural fit for this role as they know their communities and are already serving them. A ‘prepared’ faith community will be a game-changer in the realm of disaster response, allowing for faith leaders to participate in the conversation as a true part of the solution.
In addition, through a partnership with the Louisiana Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, the Provisions Project will assist in the tracking and coordination of volunteers and donations and serve as a liaison between communities of faith and government. This will give faith leaders a true voice in disaster response while allowing them to focus on what they do best – serving their communities.
